Driving Directions from Downtown

To Flour Bluff High School – Go east on South Padre Island Drive Expressway for several miles. You will cross a long causeway then continue approximately one more mile on South Padre Island Expressway. Turn right (south) on Waldron Road. The intersection has a small shopping center anchored by a large HEB grocery store. Follow Waldron Road about one mile until you come to the Flour Bluff school complex. Turn left into the parking lot near the center of the complex and drive to the back of the school. The band hall/auditorium is behind the other buildings (may be difficult to see from the road). To Tuloso-Midway School – Travel north on I-37 towards San Antonio from Downtown. Take Exit 9, for FM 2292/Rand Morgan Rd towards Up River Rd. Turn left onto Up River Rd then turn left onto Rand Morgan Rd. Approximately 0.6 miles, Turn right onto Leopard St. Approximately 0.7 miles, turn right onto War Path Dr. The school will right ahead. Park in the parking lot in front of the school and enter through the cafeteria doors to your left. Map

What to Bring

· Three original numbered scores for each musical selection 

· Two seating charts for the monitor in the warmup room and stage

· Announcer’s Script 

Check In

Please check in at the Contest Office as soon as you arrive to turn in scores, seating charts, and announcer’s form. The contest office is near the entrance to the complex.

Percussion Equipment

Percussion equipment on stage will be bass drum, bells, xylophone, vibes, marimba, chimes, and four tympani. There will be no sticks or mallets available. Snare drums, cymbals, or other small equipment are not provided. If you need a piano, we need your request one week in advance.

Instrument Cases and Clothing

For Flour Bluff, please leave all instrument cases on your bus or truck. Also, please arrive dressed for your performance. The restroom area is small and is inadequate for changing clothes.

For Tuloso-Midway, you may uncase in the cafeteria area. Large restrooms are available for changing before and/or after your performance.

Performance Results

Scores and other information will be available for pick up in the contest office shortly after your performance. Comments from each judge will be sent directly to the director’s email address.

Risers

The use of risers will not be allowed on stage. Due to the acoustics of the hall and the placement of judges, risers do not enhance the performance or recording. This has been a tremendous help in maintaining “on time” performances. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
