Directors Information

Driving Directions From Downtown:

To Flour Bluff High School - Go east on South Padre Island Drive Expressway for several miles. You will cross a long causeway then continue  approximately one more mile on South Padre Island Expressway. Turn right (south) on Waldron Road. The intersection  has a small shopping center anchored by a large HEB grocery store. Follow Waldron Road about one mile until  you come to the Flour Bluff school complex. Turn left into the parking lot near the center of the complex. The  band hall/auditorium is behind the other buildings (may be difficult to see from the road). Plenty of parking is  available. Map


Check In: 

Please check in at the Contest Office as soon as you arrive.

What to Bring:

  • Three original, numbered scores for each musical selection
  • Seating Chart for the monitor in the warm up room
  • Announcer’s Script


Percussion Equipment: 

Percussion equipment on stage will be bass drum, bells, xylophone, chimes, four tympani, and marimba. There  will be no sticks or mallets available. Snare drum, cymbals, or other small equipment are not provided. If you  need a piano, we need your request one week in advance!


Instrument Cases and Clothing: Please leave all instrument cases on your bus or truck. The restroom area is small and is inadequate for changing clothes.


Performance Results:

Scores and other information will be available for pick up in the contest office shortly after your performance.  Comments from each judge will be sent directly to the director’s email address.


Recordings:

High quality recordings are made of each group. Directors will receive a flash drive with the recording shortly after the conclusion of their performance. 


Risers:

The use of risers will not be allowed on stage. Due to the acoustics of the hall and the placement of judges,  risers do not enhance the performance or recording. This has been a tremendous help in maintaining “on time”  performances. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
